What Is MAP Pricing?
MAP stands for Minimum Advertised Price and in its simplest form, MAP is the lowest price a retailer can advertise the same product.
For example, Samsung has a TV MAP price set at $999.99. This means each of their retailers are not permitted to advertise a price lower than $999.99. Having said, they can sell for less than $999.99 – just cannot advertise. This applies to online and in-store. Liberty Metrics only focuses online. MAP pricing is meant to protect manufacturers.
